Tesamorelin

A stabilized GHRH analog · FDA-approved (Egrifta) for HIV-associated lipodystrophy

GH secretagogue (GHRH analog)Evidence: Phase 3 (approved indication)FDA-approved (specific indication)
Approved — for a specific indication. Tesamorelin is FDA-approved (Egrifta) to reduce excess visceral fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy — a narrow, prescription indication. Use for other goals is off-label / not established. Educational only, not medical advice.

What it is

Tesamorelin is a synthetic, stabilized analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). Like CJC-1295 it works on the GHRH pathway — but unlike those RUO peptides, tesamorelin completed the trials to earn an FDA approval.

Mechanism

It binds the GHRH receptor on the pituitary, stimulating physiological growth-hormone release and raising IGF-1. In its approved indication this reduces visceral adipose tissue.1
