What it is

Snap-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is a cosmetic peptide marketed as a topical alternative to neuromodulators for expression lines.

Proposed mechanism

It is proposed to interfere with the SNARE complex involved in neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction, mildly reducing muscle contraction — a topical, far weaker analogy to botulinum toxin.1
