GH secretagogueEvidence: was FDA-approved (diagnostic)Approval withdrawn · now RUO/compounded
Approved drug — used here for education. This is an approved/prescription medicine in at least one region; "research"/compounded versions sold as chemicals are a separate, riskier thing. Not medical advice.
What it is
Sermorelin is a synthetic fragment of GHRH (the first 29 amino acids) — historically an approved diagnostic for GH function.
Proposed mechanism
As a GHRH-receptor agonist it prompts the pituitary to release GH in a physiological, pulsatile way.1
State of the evidence
Had FDA approval (Geref) that was later withdrawn from the market; now seen mainly compounded/RUO. Approval history is a useful teaching contrast with RUO peptides.
Regulatory & status
Original approval discontinued; current supply is compounded/RUO. WADA-prohibited (S2).
Reconstitution (reference only)
Lab-handling reference only — not a preparation or dosing instruction: 2.5 mL (250 units) reconstitution solution per 5 mg vial. See the reconstitution calculator for the arithmetic. This page does not provide dosing guidance.
