What it is
Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analog being developed for weight management, notably paired with semaglutide (as CagriSema).
Proposed mechanism
Amylin is a pancreatic hormone that promotes satiety and slows gastric emptying; an amylin-receptor agonist adds a satiety pathway complementary to GLP-1.1
State of the evidence
Clinical development (with strong combination data for CagriSema); not yet approved as a standalone.
Regulatory & status
Investigational; not approved.
